Cesar Chavez Essay Contest

Date:                Entry Deadline Friday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Fee:                 Free

Student’s grades 9-12 can compete in an essay-writing contest on why they are inspired by the life of Cesar Chavez. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

 

Youth Employment Workshop

Date:                Wednesday, April 6

Time:                3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Fee:                 Free

Youth between the ages of 15-18 will participate in an employment workshop. The workshop will include tips on finding a job, gaining employment experience, resume writing, filling out job applications, interview tips, and how to be successful once you land a job. There will also be local employers on site to speak with the participants about employment opportunities. Please register in advance at the Teen Center. Space is limited!

 

 

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Date:                Thursday, May 5

Time:                3:30 p.m.

Fee:                 $1 for food

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the Teen Center. There will be traditional Mexican food for all to enjoy!

 

Teen Community Movie Night! Summer Kick Off BBQ/Graduation Party!

Date:                Thursday, May 19

Time:                5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location:         Duarte Park

 

The Mayor’s Youth Council will host the 6th annual Teen Community Movie Night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Duarte Park. The event will feature a movie, and a dance competition will take place at 5 p.m. with a free barbecue to follow! There will be vendors and much more.
