City Asks Residents and Businesses to Comply with New State Water Restrictions


DUARTE, CA, September 11, 2014 – The City of Duarte has passed Resolution 14-R-21 making it a code violation for residents or businesses to fail to comply with the recently passed State Emergency Regulations addressing severe statewide drought conditions. Regulations include: (1) using potable water on outdoor landscapes causing runoff into adjacent properties; roadways, parking lots, or private/public walkways; (2) using a hose to wash a vehicle except when the hose is fitted with a shut-off nozzle; (3) using water on driveways and sidewalks; and (4) using potable water in a fountain


Duarte Celebrates Nature for the 19th Annual Route 66 Parade and City's 57th Birthday City Picnic and Classic Car Show Follow at Royal Oaks Park


DUARTE, CA, September 11, 2014 – With "Celebrating the Great Outdoors" the theme of Duarte's 19th annual Route 66 Parade on Saturday, Sept. 27, parade-goers are encouraged to take to the streets in celebration of the City’s over 13 parks totaling 52 acres of open space and the recently re-opening of the Fish Canyon Falls Trails. The annual Duarte City Picnic and Classic Car Show at Royal Oaks Park will immediately follow the event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.




DUARTE, CA, September 8, 2014 – Round up your family members and friends to participate in the Amazing Family Race on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Teams must include four family members or friends and will race by foot or transit bus throughout the City of Duarte. Each team will compete in various challenges, solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. The first place team will be awarded $400, the second place team will be awarded $300 and the third place team will be awarded $200.


Mayor Liz Reilly Conducts Monthly Outreach

September 10, 2014 -- Duarte Mayor Liz Reilly has a long history of involvement in Duarte schools as both a volunteer and in her longtime job as an instructional aide at Valley View Elementary School. Thus, it's no surprise that she expands her educational outreach to the community's children, parents and residents in general by also hosting "Literacy and Learning with Mayor Liz programs at the Duarte Library.  On the first Tuesday of every month through November 4, at 4:30 p.m., the mayor will hold "Literacy and Learning with Mayor Liz" at the Duarte Library.  


City Receives $1,645,000 Transportation Grant from State

DUARTE, CA: On August 20, the California Transportation Commission chose the City of Duarte to receive a $1,645,000 grant as part of the 2014 Active Transportation Program (ATP/SRS2). The application was submitted as a First Mile Last Mile pilot program supported by Los Angeles Metro (Metro). The City will use the majority of the funds for a pedestrian walkway along the north side of Duarte Road between the Gold Line Station and Mountain Avenue. The project will include the design and construction of a sidewalk, pedestrian and bicycle level lighting, and landscaping.

“Business Connection Breakfast” Meeting, September 25th

DUARTE, CA, August 13, 2014 – An ongoing dialogue with the business community on items of mutual importance continues on Thursday, September 25th, when Mayor Reilly hosts a “Business Connection” breakfast meeting from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA. The breakfast is free and open to all members of the business community.


Phase 2 of Mountain Avenue at Duarte Road Street Closure Starts Aug 22nd


DUARTE, CA - The Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project is nearing completion, including the last at-grade crossing at Mountain Avenue and Duarte Road. Since May 2014, FTC, the company constructing the rail line, has been working on the Mountain Avenue rail grade crossing and street improvements, north of Duarte Road. Although this first phase of construction was originally scheduled to be completed in October 2014, crews have been working extended shifts and are finished several months ahead of schedule.
