San Gabriel Complex Fire Update; Containment Level Reaches a Promising 48%

The City is pleased to report that the San Gabriel Complex Fire Containment  is at 48% with a little over 5,285 acres burned thus far.  There are a few areas of flare up on both the Fish and Reservoir burn areas, however, fire crews continue to conduct both indirect and direct measures of control and are still actively working structural defense in case any burn area reactivates.  Hand crews successfully accessed the fires edge in the steep and rugged terrain above the Mesa Area and crews were able to build a direct fire line in addition to reinforcing the existing line.

OVER 200 PEOPLE ATTEND SAN GABRIEL COMPLEX FIRE COMMUNIITY MEETING AT NORTH VIEW


Los Angeles County Fire Department held an area wide meeting at North View Intermediate School to discuss the status of fighting  the San Gabriel Complex fire with over 200 residents from Duarte, Monrovia and Azusa.  Representatives from LA County Fire, Sheriff, State Office of Emergency Services, Monrovia Police Department and Fire Department made brief presentations on efforts being made to both control the fire and deal with evacuations.

We invite you to visit a new City website  duartetowncenter.com to learn more about the Duarte Town Center Specific Plan and EIR that is now in process.  The website provides a lot of information about the current process to develop stronger zoning standards for the central part of Duarte as well as historical information about the City’s concept for the area.

Get Your Dog Vaccinated & Licensed July 16 - NEW DATE


Due to the San Gabriel Complex Fire, the City of Duarte In cooperation with VET CARE, has rescheduled its annual, low cost Vaccination Clinic to Saturday, July 16, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. The clinic will be held at Duarte Park, 1344 Bloomdale Street, adjacent to the Teen Center. Rabies vaccinations will be available for $8 each, microchip registration for $40, and other vaccinations will also be available upon request. Participants will also be able to purchase Duarte dog licenses.
