The Building and Safety Division is responsible for the review of construction plans and for the performance of various building inspection activities including dissemination of Building Permits. This department protects the public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, and quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the City of Duarte. Services are provided by County of Los Angeles. The City of Duarte contracts with the County of Los Angeles for building inspection services.

Building Codes
A copy of the adopted Los Angeles Building Laws is on file at Duarte City Hall. Building Code Fees are periodically amended and updated by Los Angeles County.

Code Enforcement
Performed by the Los Angeles County Building Inspector The County Inspector is authorized and directed to enforce all of the provisions of the Housing Code, The Electrical Code, the Plumbing Code, and the Mechanical Code.
