Home Improvement Grant Program
The City of Duarte will be offering grants for the purpose of completing exterior improvements to Duarte homes.  Applicants for this upcoming application period will be determined via a lottery process.  Improvements that will be considered include exterior painting, roof replacements or window replacements.  This program is open to qualifying residents within the incorporated area of the City that meet income guidelines and have never received a grant in the past.  Residents can obtain pre-qualification applications by clicking below or at the Community Development Department located in City Hall.  The deadline to submit a pre-qualification application is April 29, 2010.  For more

Home Ownership Programs
The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission (CDC) offers assistance for first-time homeowners through their Home Ownership Program (HOP). For information on the HOP program as well as other programs offered through the CDC, please call (323) 890-7281 or visit their website listed below.  The City of Duarte does not directly administer or fund these programs.  For your convenience, a brochure regarding these programs is available in the Community Development Department.

Housing Economic Recovery Ownership (HERO) Program
Commencing March 2009, The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission (CDC) will provide assistance to first-time homebuyers through the implementation of its Housing Economic Recovery Ownership (HERO) program. The program will help homebuyers purchase abandoned and foreclosed homes in eligible locations located within HERO Census Tracts.

To participate, you must obtain a HERO brochure and review the program highlights and requirements. You can call and request a brochure at (323) 890-7281 or visit their website. Only foreclosed and abandoned properties in designated census tracts are eligible to be purchased through the program. After you review the program highlights, you must contact one of the approved participating lenders to be pre-qualified. You must inform the lender that you want to use the L.A. County HERO Program for assistance. Approved lenders are listed in the brochure. Funds will be available March 17, 2009, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program is administered by the L.A. County Community Development Commission which can be reached at (323) 890-7281.

Residential Tenants' & Landlords' Rights & Responsibilities
What should a tenant do if his or her apartment needs repairs? Can a landlord force a tenant to move? How many day's notice does a tenant have to give a landlord before the tenant moves? Section 8 Rental Program

The AB 987 database has been compiled in accordance with requirements of AB 987 which requires the City of Duarte Redevelopment Agency to post a list of affordable housing units constructed or rehabilitated with Redevelopment Agency low and moderate housing funds and/or housing units counted to meet the Agency's project area housing production or replacement housing obligations.  This is NOT a list of available units.
