California American Water Rate Adjustment Approved by the California Public Utilities Commission for its Los Angeles County Service District

The California Public Utilities Commission has issued an order increasing revenues for California American Water’s Los Angeles County service district by 27 percent. The CPUC approved the increase to fund infrastructure improvements in the company’s three Los Angeles County water systems and to offset increases in purchased water, operational and maintenance costs through the end of 2011.

With the company’s approved application, the average metered residential customer bill in the Duarte service area will increase about 44 cents per day or $13.22 per month.

Rates are being used to build, upgrade and maintain water systems that will meet growing demand and will ensure your community has an adequate, quality water supply well into the coming decades. California American Water’s service remains a great value at less than a penny for a gallon of water.

The new rates will go into effect on July 1, 2010 and be retroactive back to January 1, 2010. In the coming months, California American Water’s Los Angeles County customers will be notified about the adjusted rates and when they will be implemented in the coming months.

California American Water customers on fixed incomes or facing financial difficulties may qualify for the company’s low income rate program H2O-Help to Others. All customers are encouraged to save money and reduce water use by taking advantage of free home water surveys, rebates and conservation programs. To sign up for these services please call 626-614-2536 or stop by California American Water’s local office located at 8657 Grand Avenue, Rosemead, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:25 p.m.
