Duarte Community Clean-up Day and Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up Set for October 16th
In the spirit of keeping Duarte beautiful, the City of Duarte is inviting all residents to roll up their sleeves and participate on Saturday, October 16 in the bi-annual “Duarte Community Clean-up Day “ and a County sponsored household hazardous & E-waste roundup.
Residents are encouraged to use the day to spruce up their own personal property by taking advantage of the various free services provided that day. From 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Duarte’s licensed trash hauler, Burrtec Waste Industries will provide two convenient drop-off locations in the City where residents can dispose of large refuse items and e-waste. The locations are Duarte City Hall at 1600 Huntington Drive and the City of Hope’s Buena Vista Pavilion at 2144 Buena Vista Street in Duarte
From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, City of Hope’s Buena Vista Parking will also be the location for a household hazardous and E-waste collection sponsored by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works. Acceptable wastes include brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household batteries and car batteries, pool chemicals, motor oil, oil filters, expired pharmaceuticals, anti-freeze, and florescent light bulbs. They will also be collecting household electronic waste including: Computer monitors, televisions, computer CPU’s, keyboards, printers, cellular phones, etc. Items such as hypodermic needles, pen needles, syringes, lancets, and intravenous needles are accepted too. Please bring items in a sturdy box, (preferably in their original labeled containers), and be sure not to mix items together. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip and be prepared to leave your containers and boxes
Please note that business waste will not be accepted and neither will explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, trash and tires, white good such as: refrigerators, stoves and washing machines, or any type of controlled substances.
