National Night Out 2009 – Aug 4, It's Duarte's Night Out Against Crime!

The City of Duarte will join citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide in celebrating a Night Out Against Crime, Tuesday, Aug. 4. More than 34 million people are expected to participate in National Night Out 2009.

Duarte’s National Night Out campaign last year involved 20 Neighborhood Watch Blocks celebrating with BBQ’s, Potlucks, Ice Cream Socials, Pool Parties, and Block parties.

The Duarte Public Safety Department invites you and your neighbors to be a part of the National Night Out 2009 Team. Make plans now to revive your Neighborhood Watch Program and get acquainted with both new and longtime neighbors.

Duarte Deputies will be available to visit each gathering to pass out emergency preparedness information, coloring books to kids, and other goodies that will be provided by Target and Performance Nissan this year’s sponsors. But, be sure to contact the Public Safety Office to gather ideas, event flyers and to schedule a Deputy.

Duarte residents also take this opportunity to give back to the less fortunate in our community. A canned food drive is held in conjunction with National Night Out. We generated over 500 canned goods in 2008. These donations were picked up by Duarte Sheriff Deputies and delivered to the Duarte Community Service Council, providing services to Duarte’s families in need.
