LA County Fire Community Meeting Now Up on DCTV

As of Friday evening, the Station fire had devastated 154,000 acres of the 650,000 acre Angeles National Forest, the largest fire in the history of the San Gabriel Mountains.

The command team managing the Station Fire hosted a community meeting Friday at Azusa Senior Center to update residents of Azusa, Duarte and Bradbury about the status of the wildfire and the risks they face. DCTV, Duarte Public Access videotaped the meeting and it can be seen in its entirety on DCTV on the Web, www.dctvduarte.com.

Incident Commander, Fire Captain Mike Dietrich said firefighters are now working hard to keep the wildfire from spreading to the foothill areas of Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte, Bradbury and Azusa. But even if Duarte and our neighboring foothill communities escape the fire, Jody Noiron. Supervisor of the U.S. Forest Service, warned that come winter rains, the unprecedented destruction and denuding of the forest could lead to devastating mudslides and floods for the communities surrounding the currently 110 square mile perimeter of the wildfire. The Governor’s office has announced a $100,000 reward for the arrest and capture of the person or persons responsible for starting the fire.
