Community Invited to Free Community Health Fair

City of Hope will hold its third annual free Community Health Fair on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at its Platt Conference Center. The event is co-sponsored by the City of Duarte, the Duarte Chamber of Commerce and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

The event will feature free health information, mini-lectures and exercise demonstrations. The da Vinci Surgical Robot will be on site for attendees to see and experience the latest innovation in surgery. Also available will be blood sugar testing for diabetes.

An “Ask the Pharmacist” booth will be offered. Attendees may bring a list of their medications and supplements and meet with a pharmacist to assure there are no medication interactions.

Demonstrations of healthy cooking and free samples will be provided by Fresh & Easy, Henry’s Farmer’s Market and Trader Joe’s. The JACK-FM radio station van will be at the Fair to entertain attendees with music and giveaways. A number of other community organizations and health-oriented businesses will exhibit at the Health Fair to provide health information and refreshments.
