New Playground Equipment Unveiled at Andres Duarte Satellite Park
Kids didn’t waste any time waiting on formalities before trying out the colorful and exciting new playground equipment installed last week at Andres Duarte Park. As parents and City of Duarte officials lined up for the official ribbon cutting, children had to be coaxed away from the fun of the rock climbing wall, slides and swings to join in the ceremony.
The new equipment meets all current federal and state standards for safety. It has poured-in-place rubber as surfacing, allowing the mobility impaired to access the equipment. The purchase of the equipment at a cost of $50,000 was made possible for the City by using a portion of an $180,000 grant from the State of California 2002 Resources Bond Act. The remainder of the grant funds will be used for the purchase of permanent restroom facilities at adjacent Otis Gordon Sports Park, a project expected to be completed early next year.
