“Honor Among the Ashes”
City of Duarte Honors the 9th Anniversary of 9-11
A tree dedication and memorial flower ceremony remembering September 11th “Honor Among Ashes – A Memorial Tribute to the victims of 9/11,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8:00 a.m. in the City of Duarte on the grounds of Royal Oaks Elementary School located at 2499 Royal Oaks Drive in Duarte.
The public is invited to share a time of inspiration and reflection in a ceremony that will include representatives from the City, School, County and State, and members of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s and Fire Department.
Students from Royal Oaks School will help plant and dedicate an Oak tree on their campus, donated by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts. The tree will serve as a living memorial to all who perished on that tragic day in 2001. Students will also be singing patriotic songs and participating in a memorial flower ceremony.
