Duarte’s Route 66 Parade to Welcome Home Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans

Duarte’s Salute to Route 66 Parade on Sept. 18 would like to extend a welcome home salute to veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and a thank you to all of our veterans and currently serving military men and women.

“What better way for us as a community to say thank you for their sacrifices to our country than to welcome them home on Route 66, America’s Highway,” said Lisa Magno, parade chairperson. “We’re hoping that we’ll hear from many of our Duarte veterans who would like to participate in the parade.”

For more information, veterans should call Parade Chairperson, Lisa Magno at (626) 305-0085 or (626) 357-5637.

The 15th annual Route 66 Parade will step off at 10 a.m. at the corner of Huntington Dr. (Historic Route 66) and Cotter St. The parade will feature some 100 entries including classic cars, equestrians, marching bands and community groups from throughout the San Gabriel Valley and beyond. This year’s grand marshal is Jordan Romero, the teen who recently climbed to the summit of Mt. Everest and is just one peak away from conquering all seven summits on the seven continents.
