Over 50 Organizations Participate in the Ninth Annual “Holiday of Promise” Program

 

 

Over 50 businesses and non-profits have teamed up to make the holidays brighter for over 400 local families as Duarte’s Promise, the Alliance for Youth,  launched its ninth annual “Holiday of Promise” program collecting food, toys, personal care, clothing and household items at numerous locations during a three week period in November through December.

 

Together with the Duarte Church and Clergy Association, the Duarte Community Service Council, the City of Duarte, the Foothill Unity Center, the Duarte Unified School District and other local businesses, Duarte’s Promise intends to make the holidays brighter for over 400 Duarte families in need. This year’s event was launched at the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, November 24th at City of Hope’s Cooper Auditorium.  A partial list of of participants includes but is not limited to Performance Nissan, Skewers restaurant, Duarte Curves, Avila Gardens, CIBA Real Estate, Cabreras Restaurant, Inland Community Bank, Leven Oaks, Joe's Place, Duarte Optometry and many more.

 

From November 22nd through December 14th, participants throughout the community will be collecting food, toys, personal care, clothing and household items, which will be picked up and delivered by city staff to the Duarte Community Service Council and Foothill Unity Center. The groups, along with local youth and other volunteers, will then be assembling and distributing baskets with the collected items to local needy families in late December.
