City of Duarte Awarded $70,000

Grant for Disaster Planning


DUARTE, CA, December 9, 2010 – The City of Duarte has been awarded a $70,000 grant for disaster planning from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).  Funds will be used to update the City’s 2004 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, required to be updated every

five years. Duarte will work with the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) on the plan to ensure compliance with state law.  The grant funds will also allow the City to supplement the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan by adding a brush clearance program, as well as development of detailed geotechnical studies to better determine seismic hazard zones with the City of Duarte.
