Planning Commission to Consider
Draft Housing Element
DUARTE, CA, March 3, 2011 - At its March 21 meeting, the Planning Commission will consider Duarte’s Draft Housing Element. The Housing Element is a chapter of the City’s General Plan that addresses local housing policy.The State of California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) has given a preliminary approval of the document.
The next steps are review and recommendation by the Planning Commission followed by review and action by the City Council.
Cities in California are required to update their Housing Elements every five years to address local housing needs. Duarte has been working for the past two years to develop a document that meets with HCD approval. The Housing Element covers the 2008-2014 planning period.
