City of Monrovia Announces Schedule Change in

Major Street Resurfacing Project

The City of Monrovia announced a schedule change for a major street resurfacing project along both Huntington Drive and Duarte Road. The project’s pre-construction phase and logistical activities began

in the affected areas on Wednesday, March 16th and major construction work – which will have an impact on daily vehicular traffic – began  the week of March 21st. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2011.

Phase 1 - Huntington Drive from Shamrock Avenue to Mountain Avenue - Miscellaneous construction work such as installation of traffic loops and street striping continues.  Parking along Huntington Drive is not allowed within the construction area until the final project details are completed.

Phase 2 - Duarte Road from Fifth Avenue to Magnolia Avenue - The first coat of street striping was completed last week. Miscellaneous construction work such as sidewalk repair and second coat of street striping continues.  No parking along Duarte Road is still enforced within the construction zone until final work is completed.

Phase 3 - Huntington Drive from Fifth Avenue to Magnolia Avenue - Concrete panels were removed and replaced in the number one lane eastbound along Huntington Drive from 5TH Avenue to Magnolia Avenue.  One lane of through traffic (eastbound and westbound) will remain open at all times.  Parking along the construction zone is prohibited. Construction is expected to be completed by June 30, 2011.  Please observe all traffic signs for your safety.

During construction periods, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction within the directly affected street sections.  Motorists should expect detours and some traffic delays.
