Duarte Library Grand Re-Opening July 13th

Antonovich to Attend

 

DUARTE, CA, July 6, 2011 – Following a successful two-month facelift, the Duarte Library will be hosting its grand re-opening on July 13th with a special guest appearance by 5th District Supervisor Michael Antonovich.  The approximate hour ceremony starting at 9:00 am will feature several plaque and book presentations from the County, City and local Duarte Kiwanis Club.  A fun puppet show for kids and light refreshments will follow.

 

The  event will take place in the main lobby of the library located at 1301 Buena Vista Street and is open to the public.

 

The 45 year-old Los Angeles County library building had been closed since April 10th and first re-opened to the public on June 13th following the remodel consisting of new interior paint, carpeting, technology and a few other much needed improvements..The Duarte Library was also updated with new self-serve checkout machines and three new computers to add to the eight currently available for public use.  “We’re very excited about the improvements planned for the library,” said Pat De Rose, acting president of the Friends of the Duarte Library. It’s going to give the library a nice, fresh look that is sure to be well received by the many people in our community who use and enjoy the library services.”

 

The 10,048 square foot library was first opened in 1966. It’s a hub of activity for the community serving as many as 9,000 to 13,000 people a month.  For additional information on the event, please contact the Duarte Library at (626) 358-1865.
