Join Duarte's Night Out Against Crime on Aug 2nd!

Canned food and Used Bike Donations Encouraged

DUARTE, CA July 6, 2011 - This year we celebrate the 28th anniversary of National Night Out. Join us and help us determine which neighborhoods are among the safest neighborhoods in Duarte.

Last year's National Night Out campaign involved 25 Neighborhood Watch Blocks with a total of 23 parties that included BBQ's, Potlucks, Ice Cream Socials, Pool Parties, and Block parties. Duarte will join citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people are expected to participate in National Night Out 2011.

The Duarte Public Safety Department cordially invites you and your neighbors to be a part of the National Night Out 2011 Team. Make plans now to revive your Neighborhood Watch Program and get acquainted with both new, and longtime neighbors.  Duarte Deputies, firefighters, city officials, will be visiting each gathering to pass out emergency preparedness information, coloring books to kids, and other goodies that will be provided by Target, (our official sponsor this year).  Please be sure to promptly contact the Public Safety Office to gather ideas, event flyers and to schedule a Deputy to visit your party.

Citizens of Duarte also take this opportunity to give back to the less fortunate in our community. A canned food drive and used bike collection will be held in conjunction with National Night Out. Last year we generated over 500 canned goods. These donations were picked up by Duarte Sheriff Deputies and were delivered to the Duarte Community Council, providing services to Duarte's families in need. The Duarte Elks Lodge is also collecting used bikes to refurbish and provide to local youth in need of reliable transportation.  Please feel free and bring bikes of all shapes and size to your local event.

Thank you Duarte Neighborhood Watch Blocks!
Special Thanks to Last Year's Participants........
