SCE to Conduct Power Outage on November 28th
& 29th Affecting 194 Customers
DUARTE, CA, November 23, 2011 - Some 66 customers one day and 128 the next in Duarte will be without electrical power for approximately 7 hours between 8:00 am and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28th and for 9 hours between 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th due to planned power outages by Southern California Edison.
SCE notified city officials and mailed notices to every affected household and business of the intended shutdowns. Edison describes boundaries for the planned outage on the 28th to include Fish Canyon Rd. east of Mountaincrest Rd. The area north of Huntington Drive including the streets of Calle Adra, Calle Linares, Calle Malaga and Calle Martos will be the area affected on November 29th. The outages will allow Edison to upgrade aging infrastructure still in existence on the newly installed Ambrus circuit.
To minimize the impact on residents, the outages will be isolated to small areas. If you service address is scheduled for an outage related to this project, SCE has deliver advanced notices in time to plan and prepare. Notices include a phone number to call if you have any questions.
To prepare for the planned outages, SCE advises customers to shut off or disconnect all sensitive electronic equipment, such as computers and fax machines, before the outage begins. Notify security and/or phone companies that provide businesses with service as the outage will affect alarm systems and may affect private phone systems. Customers should also make sure that they could override or manually operate their security gates or garage doors. Plan to minimize the opening of refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage to maintain temperature. If customers plan to operate an emergency generator, notify SCE before the outage so SCE can protect its employees from possible electrical back feed.
