Duarte’s Promise 10th annual “Holiday of Promise”
benefits approximately 450 Duarte families
DUARTE, CA., December 14, 2011 – Duarte’s Promise; The Alliance for Youth, the Duarte Church and Clergy Association, businesses, schools and non-profits teamed up for the tenth straight year to ensure a joyous Christmas season for approximately 450 Duarte area families. This year, approximately 2500 canned and boxed foods, 1100 toys/school supplies, and 175 personal care items were collected equating to three City truckloads.
City staff picked up the food and gift items from approximately 50 sites on December 7th & 8th and delivered collected items to both the Duarte Community Services Council and the Foothill Unity Center. With these efforts, locally the Foothill Unity Center will help 210 Duarte families, and the Duarte Community Services Council will help approximately 236 with abundant holiday baskets.
Annually, the “Holiday of Promise” project collects food, personal items and toy donations to help fill holiday baskets for less fortunate families in Duarte and surrounding County area.
