Celebrate 99¢ Only Store Opening March 15

DUARTE, CA, March 13, 2012 – Duarte has 99 good reasons to celebrate this week with the grand opening on Thursday, March 15 of a brand new 99¢ Only store.  Doors to the 12,650 square foot store located at 1327 Huntington Dr. will open with a flourish following a Duarte Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:45 a.m. to be attended by civic leaders and the general public.

“Yes, we’re celebrating 60 new jobs, additional sales tax revenues to be derived from a major national retailer, and a very necessary shot-in-the arm to revitalize an aging shopping center in the heart of town,” said Mayor John Fasana.

99¢ Only occupies a space in the shopping center at the northeast corner of Buena Vista St. and Huntington Dr., which had been previously vacant for nearly a year.  The shopping center also houses Big Lots and Rite-Aid stores. Since leasing the space, 99¢ Only has spent the past three months preparing the site, completing a major façade upgrade to the storefront and remodeling of the interior.

99¢ Only Stores is a unique deep-discount retailer of primarily name-brand consumable general merchandise that provides an exciting primary shopping destination for price-sensitive consumers and a fun treasure-hunt shopping experience for other value conscious consumers. The retailer offers excellent values on a wide selection of quality food and basic household items with a focus on name brand closeouts and regularly available consumable products including food and beverages such as produce, deli, and other basic grocery items.

The company has 281 stores with 75% located in California and the rest in Texas, Arizona, and Nevada.  According to the company website, stores open at least a year generated average net sales per estimated sellable square foot of $289 and average net sales per store of $4.8 million which the company believes to be the highest in the dollar store industry.      #
