DUARTE TO ENFORCE FIREWORKS RESTRICTIONS INCLUDING FINES UP TO $1,000


DUARTE, CA, June 29, 2016 – The City of Duarte will be enforcing restrictions on fireworks usage for the Fourth of July, 2016 holiday. Fireworks are only allowed to be discharged on the day of July 4th between the hours of noon and 11 p.m.  They are no longer allowed on the days leading up to the holiday.


 

The only type of fireworks allowed to be discharged in Duarte are those marked Safe & Sane and those that have been purchased in California. These types of fireworks are legally sold in Duarte at five different locations starting June 30th. Remember, discharging fireworks north of Royal Oaks Drive is prohibited, with the exception of Royal Oaks Park.


Violators of the City's new fireworks restriction maybe be prosecuted and receive up to a $1000 fine and/or six months in jail. The California State Fire Marshall has decreed a zero tolerance against illegal fireworks due to the severe drought  conditions.  For additional information, contact Duarte Public Safety by calling (626) 357-7938 or to report a fireworks violation in action, please contact LASD Temple Station at 626 285-7171.







626 Golden Streets POSTPONED due to San Gabriel Complex Fire

golden_streets_logo.jpgDue to active wildfires affecting air quality in the San Gabriel Valley region, public safety officials and city staff, who have been monitoring the situation closely, have officially moved to postpone the 626 Golden Streets event to a future date.

San Gabriel Complex Fire Containment Level Reaches 86% with over 5,339 acres burned; Full Containment Due 6/30


Combine acreage for the San Gabriel Complex fire remains the same at 5,339 acres. Fish Fire remains at 4,253 acres and containment now is 88%.  Reservoir Fire remains at 1,146 acres and containment is at 96%.

OVER 200 PEOPLE ATTEND SAN GABRIEL COMPLEX FIRE COMMUNIITY MEETING AT NORTH VIEW


Los Angeles County Fire Department held an area wide meeting at North View Intermediate School to discuss the status of fighting  the San Gabriel Complex fire with over 200 residents from Duarte, Monrovia and Azusa.  Representatives from LA County Fire, Sheriff, State Office of Emergency Services, Monrovia Police Department and Fire Department made brief presentations on efforts being made to both control the fire and deal with evacuations.

DUARTE, CA - The Duarte community has reason to celebrate!  The long awaited new Smart & Final Extra! will open at 7:00 am sharp on June 29, 2016.  The store will provide the Duarte community with a new grocery shopping option at the Buena Vista Market Place shopping center located at the northwest corner of Buena Vista and Huntington Drive in the former Ralphs grocery location.

Get Your Dog Vaccinated & Licensed July 16 - NEW DATE


Due to the San Gabriel Complex Fire, the City of Duarte In cooperation with VET CARE, has rescheduled its annual, low cost Vaccination Clinic to Saturday, July 16, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. The clinic will be held at Duarte Park, 1344 Bloomdale Street, adjacent to the Teen Center. Rabies vaccinations will be available for $8 each, microchip registration for $40, and other vaccinations will also be available upon request. Participants will also be able to purchase Duarte dog licenses.

CITY INSTALLS NEW BUS BENCHES AND TRASH CANS

 

You may notice a new addition to City sidewalks and parkways-new bus benches and trash receptacles.  The City is replacing the pre-cast concrete benches and receptacles for durable and attractive cast-iron street furniture.  Over 40 new bus benches and trash receptacles are being installed by the City's Field Services and Transit Divisions staff at Duarte transit bus stops and at prime Metro and Foothill Transit stops.
