Duarte Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Route 66 Parade and City's 58th Birthday City Picnic and Classic Car Show Follow at Royal Oaks Park


DUARTE, CA, September 4, 2015 – With "20 Years of Memories" as the theme of Duarte's 20th annual Route 66 Parade on Saturday, Sept. 26, parade-goers are encouraged to take to the streets and partake in the festivities starting at 10:00 am along Duarte’s Historic Route 66. The annual Duarte City Picnic and Classic Car Show at Royal Oaks Park will immediately follow the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Duarte Hosts Honor Among Ashes September 11, 2015; A Day of Remembrance and Unity

Temple Station Detectives Seek Info on an Assault and Suspect Impersonating a Peace Officer


DUARTE, CA, August 29, 2015 - Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Temple Station Detectives seek information concerning a suspect impersonating a Peace Officer. A lone female driver (victim) was pulled over by an unmarked sedan with flashing red and blue lights in the vicinity of the 1400 Block of Buena Vista Street in Duarte.. She was contacted by a male suspect who is described as white, between 40-50 years of age, blonde hair, blue eyes, 6' foot, approximately 220 pounds and was dressed similar to police officers wearing a green “polo” style shirt. No other suspect(s) were seen.

ROYAL OAKS PARK PLAYGROUND TEMPORARILY CLOSED SEPTEMBER 8 – 26th DUE TO REPAIRS

The Royal Oaks park playground, located at 2627 Royal Oaks Drive, will be temporarily closed for repair work from Tuesday, September 8 to September 26th. The facility will re-open in time for the annual City Anniversary Picnic scheduled for September 26th starting at 11:00 am.  Temporary fencing and signage will  also be staged around the area to inform the public of the improvement.

Duarte School Board Candidates' Forum Set for Mon., Oct. 12

A candidates’ forum consisting of only the school board candidates will be held Monday, October 12. This event will be sponsored by the Duarte Chamber of Commerce and conducted by the League of Women Voters. It will be held at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Dr., Duarte, from 7-9 p.m. DCTV will be videotaping the event for playback on local cable and on their website.

Map Your Neighborhood (MAP) Training Offered in Duarte


DUARTE, CA, August 26, 2015 – CAL TECH and the City of Duarte Public Safety Department are providing free “Map Your Neighborhood” (MAP) training with an emphasis on basic safety and life saving skills for the neighborhood on September  17th.  The course will be offered on a Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30pm at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive. Parking is available on site.  MAP training is offered to participants 18 years or older.

DUARTE/CITY OF HOPE GOLD LINE STATION DEDICATED

 

DUARTE, CA - Under sun-drenched skies, nearly 400 people braved the record heat and joined in a Duarte community celebration this past Saturday for the first of five Foothill Gold Line station dedication ceremonies. It was an impressive day, with a train ready at the Duarte/City of Hope Station, and dozens of local, state and federal officials on hand to mark the historic occasion.

PROPOSED VERIZON TRANSFER


The Verizon Corporation of California has an application before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requesting the sale of its wireline operations and customers be transferred to the Frontiers Communications Corporation.  Operations transferred would include approximately 2 million lines that are used to provide voice, internet, long distance and video services in areas that are currently served by Verizon. Frontier currently offers both telecommunication and other services to more than 3 million residential and business customers in 28 states.

Duarte Sets Community Clean-up Day for September 19


DUARTE, CA, August 12, 2015 -- Break out the brooms, rakes, shovels, and trash bags, it’s cleaning time in the City of Duarte.  The City and Burrtec Waste Industries will hold its last bi-annual Duarte Community Clean-Up Day of 2015 on Saturday, September 19.
