Vulcan Appeal Update

 

Duarte, CA, January 25, 2012 - The City of Duarte filed an appeal on August 5, 2011 with the State Court of Appeals in the ongoing battle to save Van Tassel Ridge from being destroyed by a massive Vulcan Materials Company mining expansion project originally approved by the City of Azusa in 2010. Duarte’s lawsuit, originally filed in August 2010 and first heard in late March, 2011, was denied by the Superior Court on May 9th.

Duarte Businesses Collect Batteries Making Recycling Easier

 

DUARTE, CA, July 28, 2011  - Two businesses in the City of Duarte are part of 38 establishments in the San Gabriel Valley participating in a pilot program that aims to increase battery recycling within the City and throughout the Valley.  The state of California banned batteries from disposal in landfills in 2006 in an effort to recycle more metals and to reduce groundwater contamination caused by the presence of batteries in landfills.

Construction Begins on I-210 Gold Line Bridge



DUARTE, CA - July 6, 2011 - During the evenings of Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6, work on the I-210 Gold Line Bridge project will require temporary closure of the Eastbound I-210 HOV and #1 Freeway Lanes from Rosemead Boulevard to Santa Anita Avenue. Closures will take place from 10:00 p.m. though 6:00 a.m. (a possible third night of the same closure may occur on Thursday, July 7). Minimal delays are expected.

$1.85 Million Year-Long Overhaul of

San Gabriel River Bridge Update


DUARTE, CA, January 25, 2012 – The San Gabriel River Bridge, a heavily trafficked thoroughfare linking Huntington Dr. in Duarte and Foothill Blvd. in Irwindale, continues its $1.85 million structural improvement and repair project which began September 19th of last year.  Effective Monday, January 30, 2012 the Stage 2 detour will go into effect which changes deliniation marks yet still maintains one lane in each traffic direction.

DUARTE, CA, April 20, 2012 – During the period of April 23 – April 29, 2012, as part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP) in the City of Duarte there will be some vegetation management activities primarily in the area of Brookridge Road.
