Be On The Look Out for individuals impersonating state inspectors/employees. They have been known to issue notices and collect money.

As you can see in the photo, they are wearing the state logo on shirts with a fake state logo employee card. They are called California Labor Compliance Group. Another unauthorized organization is the California Board of Regulations. They are wearing the same color shirt with state logo but the wording is different.  This organization tends to prey on small businesses.

After checking with the Department of Industrial Relations Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (562) 983-189, these organizations are not authorized to enforce, collect money or use the state logo for any purpose.  Additionally, per Cal-Osha's Field Enforcement Bureau, they are also committing a felony.
