Dear Duarte ENewsletter Subscribers:The purpose of this alert is to inform subscribers about what appear to be gang related incidents in the Duarte/Monrovia City and County areas that have transpired in the last few days.On Friday night, October 7, 2011, the Monrovia Police Department received calls of shots heard in the 200 block of East Colorado. There were no victims or witnesses and the City of Monrovia has reported this did not occur at Myrtle and Colorado.On Saturday night, October 8, 2011 at approximately 11:30 pm, during a party in the 2100 Block of California in the County area, deputies responded to the location regarding a fight in progress with apossible stabbing victim. Deputies located a stabbing victim who was a male black juvenile. This incident is under investigation. The stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening wounds and is recovering.That same evening Monrovia Police arrested a male black juvenile during a traffic STOP for possession of a loaded firearm. On Monday, October 11, 2011 at approximately 6:00 pm, in the 2600 Block of Maynard n the City of Duarte, deputies responded to a shooting with two victims. This shooting is under investigation. The victims suffered non-life threatening wounds and are both recovering.The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is working in conjunction with Monrovia Police and other local specialized task forces to proactively pursue resolution to these violent incidents and have increased patrol throughout the area to protect our residents.
