Women's Business Expo "Turn Your Passion Into Power"

San Gabriel Valley workforce leaders and the Duarte Chamber of Commerce are partnering again to host a Women’s Business Expo “Turn Your Passion into Power” scheduled for September 10, 2016 from 9am-2pm. The expo, held at the Duarte Community Center located at 1600 Huntington Dr., is free to all attendees. Co-hosting with the Chamber are the Foothill Workforce Development Board, the Small Business Development Center at the University of La Verne and the City of Duarte. The Inspiration Presenting Sponsor is Grocery Outlet with the Innovation Sponsors being Nissan of Duarte and The Gas Company and Motivation Sponsor is Constant Contact.

Expo participants will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from various female business leaders through a variety of interactive formats including panel discussions and intimate round table exploring such topics as starting, organizing and growing your business. Participants will also have access to over a dozen expert exhibitors in the world of business.

Longtime member of Congress, Representative Grace Napolitano will kick off the event and welcome attendees. Nellie Akalp, founder and CEO of CorpNet.com, an online legal document filing service, is the featured speaker. Ms. Akalp was named a Top 100 Small Business Influencer in 2012, 2013, and 2014 by Small Business Trends. She has inspired and motivated many to make their business dreams a reality. Additionally, attendees can apply online for a $350 micro business grant that will be awarded at the end of the event. Grant recipients must be present to receive the grant. Deadline for applying is Sept. 1.

Space is limited and RSVP’s are encouraged, but are required to ensure a lunch. Attendees are also encouraged to donate $5 to the Foothill Unity Center in lieu of an entrance fee in support of the organization’s mission serving the needy and hungry of our community. Exhibitor opportunities for the event are also available at a cost of $25. As part of registration, all exhibitors will receive a display table and a chair, a meal and mention in the event program.
