On September 13, 2016, the City Council will hold a public hearing on the Town Center Specific Plan; a Supplemental EIR for the project; General Plan Amendment 15-2; and Zone Change 15-2. The Council meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the City Council Chambers at 1600 Huntington Drive.
The Town Center will be an iconic and attractive placefor new and existing businesses to flourish, accompanied by new residential developments, shopping opportunities and entertainment uses in an inviting, walkable, and bikeable environment.
Throughout the entire process of developing this specific plan, public outreach was an important focus. The Council appointed Town Center Ad Hoc Committee was a major part of this outreach as the committee members represented a wide segment of the residential and commercial community. All of the monthly Ad Hoc Committee meetings were open to the public; a community meeting was held for the EIR scoping; all property owners were invited to an open house, specifically for property owners in the plan area, where a detailed overview of the plan was presented; a community open house was advertised and held prior to the public hearing this evening; several community news stories were posted on the City’s website explaining the project; and a project website was developed to inform the public and to take public comment.
The project “planning area” is located generally along Huntington Drive from west of Buena Vista Street to east of Highland Avenue and portions of Buena Vista Street and Highland Avenue from Huntington Avenue to I-210.
