DUARTE CELEBRATES “DEMOLITION DAY” APRIL 12th PAVING THE WAY FOR TOWN CENTER SPECIFIC PLAN DEVELOPMENT
DUARTE, CA, MARCH 28, 2017 – Join City officials and members of the public for a light lunch and celebration on April 12th at 3:00 pm as the former Sparr Liquor building at the corner of Huntington Dr. and Buena Vista St. closes. The event marks the beginning of the demolition process paving the way for yet another chapter in the Duarte Town Center Specific plan. This exciting development comes on the heels of the adoption of the Plan which was approved last Fall and is already spurring new interest in the area.
City Council recently acquired Sparr Liquor on the northeast corner of Huntington Drive – Buena Vista Street. The store will close at the end of March and building demolition and site clearance is scheduled to be completed by the end of May. Several years ago, the City purchased the adjacent property, directly to the east, and plans to assemble the properties and work with a developer on a new commercial development. Staff also continues to work with the adjacent shopping center owners to upgrade the existing center as well.
