DUSD TO HOST SPECIAL OLYMPICS MAY 12
For the second year in a row, DUSD will partner with the Special Olympics Southern California to host the the San Gabriel Valley Spring Games on FRIDAY, May 12 at the Duarte High School Falcon Stadium. Along with 70 athletes from DUSD schools, over 400 students from across the eastern San Gabriel Valley, including San Dimas, La Verne, Glendora, and non-public school students from Pasadena, will compete in a variety of track and field events like the softball throw, long jump, and runs of 25, 50, 100 and 200 meters, and a 4x100 relay to culminate the athletic competition.
The Spring School Games are part of a year-round sports program for special education students at Duarte who participated in soccer and basketball tournaments earlier this year with great success, especially in the soccer tournament where they sweeped all events! Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff, with special kudos to the planning team led by DUSD teachers, Greg Saris and Tracy Hall. The Opening Ceremony kicks off at 9:45 a.m. We hope to see the entire Duarte community in the stands this FRIDAY cheering on all of our special athletes.
