Are you ready to enjoy great music and movies in the comfort of Duarte’s great outdoors?  If the answer if yes, the City has a full schedule of family friendly activities planned for the Duarte community starting this June.

            Are you a movie lover? Duarte Public Safety and Parks and Recreation will be presenting a series of outdoor Community and Dive-In Movie Nights.  The series kicks off with “Moana” on June 2nd at Beardslee Park located at 2000 Buena Vista Street. The second movie night “Sing” will be featured on June 30th at Maxwell Elementary School, 733 Euclid Avenue.  Look for “The Lego Batman Movie” on August 1st at Encanto Park, 751 Encanto Parkway. Starting at 6:00 pm, for the first 500 moviegoers, longtime sponsor, Marvell West cooks up a delicious, free BBQ meal complete with hot links, chicken, ribs, hot dogs and salad. Vendors offering free kid prints, fresh popcorn, face painting, free helmets and more will be also on site to make this free family night out an even more memorable experience.   Movies start at sunset.

Dive In movies make their first splash in July at the Duarte Pool, 1600 Huntington Drive starting at 7:00 pm for a cost of $2 for adults and $1 for kids. Grab your swimsuit, beach chair and small flotation device and enjoy a BBQ dinner while watching “Finding Dory” on July 21st and The SpongeBob Movie, “Sponge out of Water” on August 11th. Both events require reservations and are limited to the first 200 participants. 

            Love music from all different genres? Duarte’s Summer Concerts in the Park series offers a variety of music for all ages to enjoy.  A wonderful fusion of Top 40, R&B, Latin, and Old School tunes performed by The Band Fresh will kick off the popular series on July 5th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Duarte Park, 1344 Bloomdale Street sponsored by California American Water. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and refreshments to ensure a fun filled experience.  Attendees are also encouraged to purchase food and beverages from various local non-profit vendors on site at each concert.  This year series also features a fun zone for children to enjoy at each concert!      

            Other concert dates in the series include: Sweet Harmony the best rock, pop, and top 40 on July 12; SGT. Peppers, a Beatles tribute group will perform on July 19; Doc Rock it, featuring the best of classic rock from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s is featured on July 26th, and Yesterday’s Dream, performing Top 40, Latin, and Old School will be performing August 2nd. In addition to California American Water, the Sierra Family of Dealerships, Burrtec Waste Industries, Rutan & Tucker, LLP, Duarte Soccer League, El Salvadoreno Restaurant, Foothill Transit and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger are all sponsors of the 2017 series.
