The City of Duarte is accepting applications to fill two positions on the Economic Development Commission (EDC); one for a business representative expiring December 31, 2017 and the other for a residential representative expiring December 31, 2019. Duarte residents and business owners (City residency not required) interested in serving on the EDC commission will have until July 3, 2017 to apply. Applications must be received by the City Manager’s office at Duarte City Hall, 1600 Huntington Drive by 6 p.m. on that date. Application forms are available at Duarte City Hall, Public Safety Office, the Duarte Senior Center, as well as on the City’s website:

City Councilmembers will tentatively interview applicants beginning at 5 p.m. on July 11th. Appointments will be announced at the City Council meeting on July 11, 2017 as well, and the new commissioners will formally take their oath of office at the July 25, 2017 meeting.

The available Commission offers interested citizens and business owners an opportunity to serve their community in an advisory capacity to the City Council.  The positions on the Economic Development Commission are part of an eight-member body that works with staff in developing a comprehensive economic development program aimed at attracting, retaining, and stimulating businesses within the City of Duarte. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Center.
