On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Los Angeles County Sheriff ‘s Deputies and fire fighters alongside Duarte Public Safety Personnel and elected officials mingled with residents at Duarte’s annual National Night Out celebration. Over 200 residents of all ages showed their support despite the rain at this community wide celebration over a free BBQ dinner and a sunset movie at beautiful Encanto Park.
This collaborative effort wouldn’t have been possible without Neighborhood Watch Volunteers, Burrtec Waste Inc., SCE Federal Credit Union, LA Party Works, Duarte Target, Duarte Smart and Final, LA County Fire,., and over 20 non-profits and businesses from our community. We thank our greatest supporter, the LA County Sheriff’s Department and a special shout out to all neighborhood watch participants, C.E.R.T., SGV volunteer center and youth volunteers from D.A.R.T. who were hard at work to ensure all event goers had a great time.
This annual event is part of a crime prevention initiative funded through Duarte Public Safety’s, CAL GRIP grant and concludes the Public Safety Movie Series outreach for the year. For the last seven years target outreach has served communities in the Encanto Park, Beardslee Park, and Maxwell Elementary areas. Last year participation increased to 1,000 residents combined.
