Holiday Happenings in the City of Duarte

DUARTE, CA, November 14, 2017 – The City of Duarte invites community members to partake in a variety of fun-filled festivities to kick off their holiday season taking place during the month of December. 

 

Want to tell Santa what you want Christmas?  Drop your letter off at Santa’s Mailbox located in front of the Recreation Department counter in City Hall from November 27 to December 14th.  Letters may be deposited Monday-Thursday from 7:30am-6:00pm or mailed during that time to 1600 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA 91010-2592.  Please include your address and phone number.  All letters will be forwarded to the North Pole and Santa will write back!

 

Enjoy Breakfast with Santa and Santa’s Workshop are presented by the local Duarte Rotary Club on Saturday, December 2rd from 8:00-10:30 am at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive. Tickets are available at the door for $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children ten and under. After breakfast, children can make crafts for Christmas at Santa’s Workshop located right next door.

 

On Tuesday, December 5th join the community as we light the City’s official living tree for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Fiesta event. Enjoy musical entertainment, crafts, games and a visit from Santa.  This is a free event. A traditional tamale dinner will be an available option for only $7 at the Duarte Senior Center, 1610 Huntington Drive, from 6:30-8:00 pm.

 

Santa Claus is coming to Duarte and will visit both Beardslee and Royal Oaks Park as he makes his way to the annual Holiday Party.  On Tuesday, December 19th, Santa will hand out candy at Beardslee Park from 2:45-3:15 pm and again at Royal Oaks Park from 3:30-4:00 pm.

 

Santa’s Holiday Party and free Holiday Light Exchange are also scheduled for Tuesday, December 19th will take place from 4:00-5:30 pm at the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive.  This event is limited to the first 90 participants. An RSVP is required and can be made by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at (626) 357-7931.  Guests will enjoy holiday games, special crafts, music, prizes, refreshments and quality time with Santa Claus! 

 

Teens and the community will enjoy a Winter Holiday Festival at the Duarte Teen Center, 1400 Buena Vista St. On Wednesday, December 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The event celebrates the annual observances of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa!  There will be musical choirs; cultural presentations and a holiday play for entertainment.  For additional information, call the Duarte Teen Center at 626-303-0863.

 

For one day only, pick up the phone, talk to Santa Claus and tell him what is on your wish list!  On Thursday, December 21st children can call (626) 386-6804, the City’s annual Santa’s Hotline will be available from 3:00-5:00 pm.
