John Fasana Elected Mayor of Duarte; Liz Reilly Elected Mayor Pro Tem in Annual Duarte City Council Reorganization

DUARTE, CA. November 28, 2017 — Duarte City Council members voted 5-0 to elect John Fasana as Mayor for 2017-2018, and Liz Reilly as Mayor Pro Tem, during the annual reorganization meeting of the Duarte City Council.

         Fasana, elected to his current post in 2013, is serving his eighth term on the Duarte City Council and last served as Mayor of Duarte in 2011-12. In his upcoming term as Mayor, Fasana will stress the importance of Emergency Preparedness and will make that the focus of his forthcoming State of the City address on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Duarte Performing Arts Center.

         In addition to his duties on the Council, Fasana has represented the over 30 San Gabriel Valley cities as a Director to the METRO board since its inception most recently serving as Chair from 2016-17. He also serves as a Director on the Foothill Gold Line Extension Board, and on the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. Reilly, an instructional aide at Valley View School, was voted unanimously by the Council to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, and has held that position twice before in 2011-12 and then again in 2012-13. She also serves as a Governor’s appointment on the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy.
