Since the 1980’s, the City of Duarte has maintained a public and governmental access channel on local cable. With the recent sale of the DCTV studios on Third Street, an opportunity arose for the City to revisit the classic service and possibly take it to the next level. With that in mind, the City of Duarte, DCTV, DUSD and KGEM are blending their assets to provide a new take on government and public access programming for the Duarte Community.
Starting this month, Duarte residents will be able to access KGEM studios in Monrovia at 847 E. Olive Ave to produce local programming of their choice. Hours of Operation for KGEM are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays for a total of 39 hours per week. The operation also offer a state of the art, 25 x 30 soundstage with 3D cameras, and a director’s booth. There is also a waiting area for talent and multiple editing bays for producers. KGEM staffing is also available to oversee space needs and provide technical assistance as needed. The studio also offers regular training on a monthly basis. All programs produced at KGEM will appear on our local DCTV station channel 153.
