DUARTE, CA November 26, 2014 – The Duarte City Council joined forces with Duarte Unified School District by signing an Anti-Bullying Pledge entitled “CHANGE” designed to establish a positive culture of acceptance, tolerance and respect throughout the City of Duarte. ‘This official pledge created by the Chicago School of Professional Psychology was undertaken at the recent joint City/School Board/Town Council Board Meeting on Thursday, November 13, 2014.

Outstanding Community Volunteers Recognized at Duarte’s Mayor Prayer Breakfast

 

DUARTE, CA, November 26, 2014 — The City of Duarte and over 130 attendees expressed thanks to outstanding community volunteers and kicked off the holiday season at the 29th annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast and 27th annual Duarte Chamber Community Service Recognition Awards. Ed Barron, Executive Director of Multi Ethnic Programs at Azusa Pacific University (APU), served as this year’s featured speaker and imparted a powerful message of being selfless and lifting up the community through service.

Duarte Awarded $325,171 Cal-GRIP Grant for Gang Prevention InterventionReintegration Programs



 

DUARTE, CA, November 14, 2014 -- The City of Duarte has been awarded a $325,171competitive state grant under the California Gang Reduction, Intervention and Prevention (CalGRIP) Program to sustain its gang prevention, intervention, and expand reintegrationprograms for 2015. The grant will be up for annual renewal for the next two years (through 2017), pending state restitution funds sourced from the State Budget Act, for a total of $975, 513 for three years.

DUARTE VOLUNTEERS INVITED TO HELP DECORATE CITY OF HOPE’S 2015 ROSE PARADE FLOAT

 

DUARTE, CA, November 5, 2014-- City of Hope and City of Duarte have designated Saturday, Dec. 27 "Duarte Day," an opportunity for local volunteers to work on City of Hope's especially significant 2015 Tournament of Roses Parade float. The leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and life-threatening diseases was founded in 1913 in Duarte and will be a participant in the 2015 Rose Parade on New Year's Day.

DUARTE, CA, October 30, 2014 – Celebrate “Christmas Every Day” on Friday, December 19th from 10:45 am -3:45 pm with friends from the Duarte Senior Center! Participants will be transported to the Candlelight Pavilion located in Claremont to enjoy this special show filled with holiday songs and Christmas cheer. The show features main characters Barnie and Betty Walli. After 25 years of making spirits bright, Barnie has lost his Christmas spirit. With the help of Betty and their friends - a team of holiday decorating enthusiasts – he won’t be a humbug for long.

Duarte Unveils State of the Art Electronic Message Board

 

DUARTE, CA, October 29, 2014 – At last night’s City Council meeting, the Duarte City Council “cut the ribbon” on its new, state-of-the-art electronic message board. Working with Architectural Design & Signs Inc. (ADS), the 14 x 10 display LED board features numerous graphic capabilities, a native river rock façade with “City of Duarte” proudly illuminated on top.

DUARTE RESIDENTS ASKED TO COMPLETE SURVEYS ABOUT THE CITY’S TRANSIT SYSTEM AND THE SENIOR CENTER


DUARTE, CA, October 27, 2014 - As part of the City’s continued commitment to provide exemplary service in all areas, Duarte residents are being asked to complete two short surveys in order to help the City identify ways to better serve the community. Specifically, residents are asked to provide feedback about the Duarte transit system and the Duarte Senior Center.

Olympia Youth Orchestra to Perform Free Community Concert

 

DUARTE, CA October 23, 2014 - The 80 youth members of the OLYMPIA YOUTH ORCHESTRA, will be showcasing their talents at a free community concert on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 7:30 PM in the Duarte Performing Arts Center, 1401 Highland Ave., Duarte, CA. The event, sponsored in part the City of Duarte and the Duarte Unified School District, is designed to bring residents together to enjoy an enriching, cultural, and family-oriented experience.

Duarte Enters into the “Adopt-a-Unit” Community Partnership Program with the National Guard’s HHT, 1-18 Cavalry out of Azusa

 

DUARTE, CA, October 14, 2014 – In the spirit of showing appreciation for the unwavering service provided by our local National Guard, the Duarte City Council has entered into a community partnership entitled the “Adopt-a-Unit program” with the California Army National Guard’s Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (HHT), 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry, located in Azusa. The City Council adopted a resolution memorializing the partnership at its September 23, 2014 Council meeting.
