San Gabriel Complex Fire Update; EVACUATIONS LIFTED EFFECTIVE NOON ON 6/24, RED CROSS SHELTER CLOSING

The San Gabriel Complex fire is now at 30% containment and all evacuations orders are being lifted for all remaining areas effective June 24, 2016 at noon. Also effective noon today, the Red Cross operated Shelter at the Duarte Community Center will close due to the suspension of all evacuation orders and all affected homeowners have been allowed to return home. All areas will be open to residents with identification only and small pets until 10PM tonight (no large animals or large vehicles).  After 10PM on June 24th, the area will be completely open with roving LA County Sheriff and Fire patrols through the night of the 24th lasting until 6:00 am Sunday, June 26, 2016.  Good news for the City pool. Open swim will resume today at 1:30 pm with a return to the normal pool schedule.

OVER 200 PEOPLE ATTEND SAN GABRIEL COMPLEX FIRE COMMUNIITY MEETING AT NORTH VIEW


Los Angeles County Fire Department held an area wide meeting at North View Intermediate School to discuss the status of fighting  the San Gabriel Complex fire with over 200 residents from Duarte, Monrovia and Azusa.  Representatives from LA County Fire, Sheriff, State Office of Emergency Services, Monrovia Police Department and Fire Department made brief presentations on efforts being made to both control the fire and deal with evacuations.

We invite you to visit a new City website  duartetowncenter.com to learn more about the Duarte Town Center Specific Plan and EIR that is now in process.  The website provides a lot of information about the current process to develop stronger zoning standards for the central part of Duarte as well as historical information about the City’s concept for the area.

Get Your Dog Vaccinated & Licensed July 16 - NEW DATE


Due to the San Gabriel Complex Fire, the City of Duarte In cooperation with VET CARE, has rescheduled its annual, low cost Vaccination Clinic to Saturday, July 16, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. The clinic will be held at Duarte Park, 1344 Bloomdale Street, adjacent to the Teen Center. Rabies vaccinations will be available for $8 each, microchip registration for $40, and other vaccinations will also be available upon request. Participants will also be able to purchase Duarte dog licenses.
