Councilmember Bryan Urias was first elected to the Duarte City Council in November of 2018, representing District 6. Bryan Urias is a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley who works everyday serving his local communities. The proud son of immigrant parents, Bryan grew up in a working-class household with a father who was a Teamster. He learned from an early age the importance of hard work and standing up for your community.
Bryan was the first in his family to attend college. He worked his way through school and graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Los Angeles. He decided to put that education to work through a career in public service.
Bryan Urias began his career as an intern for then Congresswoman Hilda Solis, going on to serve as her Field Representative for four years. He then served as Senior Field Deputy and Deputy District Director for U.S. Representative Judy Chu.
Previously, Bryan Urias represented Duarte for 8 years as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Upper San Gabriel Municipal Water District. While on the board, Bryan successfully fought for water projects and programs that ensure public dollars were invested in projects that created good-paying jobs and keepwater cleanand affordablefor local families.
Bryan knows firsthand the many struggles local families face everyday and has spent his career standing with working families in Duarte and throughout the region.
